Find Your Community Within AAPG
AAPG membership levels are based on your level of education, degree, and years of professional experience. Each level unlocks additional benefits, with Full Membership being the all-inclusive option. Learn more about each member type below and get to know the benefits of joining AAPG as a member.
Full Membership
Full Membership is exclusive to those who have a bachelor’s degree (minimum) in the geological sciences, plus at least one year of industry or teaching experience in geoscience. As a Full Member in AAPG, you’ll receive:
- Bulletin: AAPG’s peer-reviewed technical journal and archive ($780+ value)
- Explorer: AAPG’s monthly magazine and archive ($199+ value)
- Event discounts & special access ($500+ value)
- Access to AAPG’s member directory
- Access to join any AAPG division and receive certification
- Eligibility to vote in AAPG elections
- Eligibility to serve as an elected AAPG leader
The cost for Full Membership in AAPG is USD $125 a year.
Graduated dues are available to those who qualify, based on annual income.
Associate Membership
Applicants who do not meet the qualifications for Full Membership or Student Membership, but have obtained a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and whose employment is associated with the geological sciences, may apply for Associate status. As an Associate Member, you’ll receive:
- Bulletin: AAPG’s peer-reviewed technical journal and archive ($780+ value)
- Explorer: AAPG’s monthly magazine and archive ($199+ value)
- Event discounts & special access ($500+ value)
- Access to AAPG’s member directory
- Access to join AAPG’s Energy Minerals Division and Division of Environmental Geosciences
Graduated dues are available to those who qualify, based on annual income.
Student Membership
Student Membership is open to all undergraduate and graduate students who are actively pursuing a degree in geology or a related field. As a student member, you’ll receive:

- Explorer: AAPG’s monthly magazine and archive ($199+ value)
- Event discounts & special access ($500+ value)
